So, how useful is your Connecta Hood? It is personal preference, but there are so many ways to use it, here are a few ways to help it become a really useful feature.
When using your Connecta for a new or small baby, the hood can be used to support the head, both awake and asleep. And even bigger babies and toddlers need support when sleeping, so this function is one worth mastering.
Ideally, when sleeping, your baby’s head should lay snugly against your body and be supported in that position by the Connecta hood. You can clip up both sides, folding into the cloth pattern of the carrier, allowing space for the infant head turned to one side. Take care not to push the baby’s face against your body.
Or you can clip up one side, creating a diagonal line of support across the back of your baby’s head, keeping their face visible and their chin tilted up towards the sky.
2) Sunshade and weather cover
In warmer weather or unavoidable direct sun, you can use the hood to provide cover for your baby’s head – the solar fabric is especially good for this. Make sure your baby remains visible, and raise the fabric of the hood over the head, securing the clip agains the shoulder strap on the same side.
Allowing the hood to sit flat against the body of the carrier unsecured is a valid option, especially for older babies or back carries, and it means it is always ready for use. The slimline nature of the Connecta and flat sleephood design make this option unobtrusive and practical.
4) Tuck it away
You might choose not to use the hood after all, and the Connecta design cleverly folds it away inside, creating a pocket whilst maintaining the sleek and simple lines of the carrier. To do this, pinch each of the two fabric layers of the Connecta body apart near to the base of the hood. This creates a space to push the fabric of the hood inside. Smooth it around inside until it resembles a pocket, and the top line of the Connecta is horizontal. To remove the hood from its self-created pocket, merely slide your hand inside and pull gently on one of the webbing pieces. It will unfold ready for use.
In all honesty, this is our very favourite use of the hood…..!
