We at Firespiral Slings love our collaborations with Connecta, not only because they make beautiful, functional soft structured carriers, but because, like us, they are a small British company that is run by passionate work at home mums.
Jen and I run Firespiral from our homes (with the support of Amy), we are passionate about sourcing locally and ethically. We source the majority of our yarns from UK companies. In Lancashire our yarns are dyed, cloth and labels are woven, our wraps are cut hemmed and booklets printed. Our carrier bags and postage envelopes are all degradable and are made for us in Yorkshire. We use small family businesses where we can.
We produce all our designs ourselves, Jen and I both have an artistic backgrounds, and have learnt how to translate our ideas into cloth that is both functional and beautiful. We are inspired by the world around us, and the beautiful Lancashire landscape that we live in. We have worked very hard to develop a cloth which wraps amazingly and is soft yet strong, needing a bare minimum of breaking in.
Jen and I are also both active in our slinging communities. I help run Morecambe Bay Slings and Lancaster Sling Library, Jen is a regular at Bolton and Bury Sling Meet. We are passionate about supporting sling libraries and enabling new wrappers, and have schemes running which provide both libraries and new wrappers with discounted wraps.
