Thanks to Denise for this great guest post in which she shares her experiences as a mum of three who has recently discovered Connecta!
To wear or not to wear that is the question… Well when it comes to my boys it’s been a sanity saver and indeed a game changer!
I dabbled with baby wearing with baby number one with a type of carrier I never quite clicked with. The more I researched the more I realised I was doing it all wrong.
Babywearing is a technique embedded in history and is common at every point of the compass. I had baby number two when my first was eighteen months, and a fellow mama on social media recommended I try it when I asked my followers how to juggle bedtime. Quite simply it changed my life: I was able to multi task again – one of my favourite pastimes!
Fast forward two years and my love affair with Connecta began. I only wish it had started sooner.
I gave birth to, some might say, a giant… Ok not quite a giant but a very long bubba! Both my husband and I are a smidge under six foot and with mixed race DNA we have produced quite sizeable babies.
With a just turned two year old and a four year old I knew I’d need a strong carrier. I continued with my existing sling and researched other carriers, and after reading the reviews I knew Connecta was the brand for me. I must have searched hundreds of styles and brands however I kept coming back to Connecta.
We purchased a black standard Connecta and that dear readers was that. I had found something practical and stylish, now that was a added bonus! The sleek streamlined design is a stand alone fashion piece: beautifully manufactured and fabulous quality. Baby Eesa now about twelve months took to it instantly, he was close, secure and happy. A win-win situation.
I have found that baby wearing is great for those fussy baby moments and especially the dreaded prolonged fussy phases we all have to endure. I think it could have something to do with the fact that worn babies get more interaction. It’s an interesting point to remember that fellow human beings are more likely to interact with your child if they are at eye level – it takes their mind off whinging perhaps. The flip side to that coin is my Connecta stops unwanted ‘ahhhh can I pick him up!’ moments. Eesa takes a while to warm to new faces so its great security for him.
My Connecta actually lives in my car, odd I know but my eldest and my toddler attend schools in East London and we reside in North so my Connecta is a trusted piece of kit for the school run. Getting a now five year old to the gates with all his paraphernalia, with a toddler holding my other hand, a rucksack filled to bursting with baby essentials and of course the baby would be rather unbearable without my Connecta. Trying to manoeuvre a stroller through the crowded pavement with my three musketeers would be rather stressful.
It’s pretty simple to use and has enhanced the bond between my youngest and I. Him being the third boy along with mini age gaps added to lengthy school runs and general mummy duties it could have been easy to not have a strong connection. My trusty Connecta has brought us closer quite literally. If you wear a baby in my humble opinion you seem to have a better understanding of them.
One thing I will admit I’ve not been brave enough to attempt the back carry. I know he’ll love it so once I muster up the courage I’ll be sure to share. I know I’ve got nothing to fear as these carriers have been designed for parents by parents, the upmost thought and care has gone into creating them. Like cloth nappies, it’s a shame many mothers can’t be educated by Health professionals about this fantastic way to carry your baby. Wouldn’t Connectas on prescription be a wonderful thing?
