Thank you to Charlotte for the ninth post in our Me and My Connecta series, where happy babywearers help us spread the Connecta love by telling us all about their experiences. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved!
Which Connecta(s) do you have?
We have a standard Connecta Girasol Double Gothic Rainbow Diamond Weave Wrap Conversion.
Why did you choose a Connecta to carry your baby?
When Tuppence was born, I was keen to start wearing her as soon as possible. We started out with a Caboo but I wanted something less fiddly and that would last us longer. I went to the local sling library and tried out several soft structured carriers with buckles but just didn’t get on with them. I certainly have a baby who knows her own mind and she just didn’t like the various ones I tried.
I went back to the sling library and they suggested a Connecta because they’re so soft and don’t have lots of padding around the waist – and they don’t require an insert for younger babies, which I had found a massive pain with some of the other buckled carriers. I tried one on there and then, put her in it, and hey presto – in 10 minutes she was asleep. No screaming like we’d had with the other carriers. It was like magic! (and it was the Mischief Managed that we tried 😉 ) So I hired it to try for a month and used it every day. I knew we had to buy one.
When we were coming up to the date it was due back I was so keen to get our own one that I convinced my husband to make a day trip to Godalming so we could visit the shop! (It’s absolutely lovely, by the way!)
What is your favourite thing about your Connecta?
My favourite thing about my Connecta is that it lets me hold my little girl close, and she’s just so content in it.
The other day, my husband commented that when I’m wearing her, we both just look like we are meant to be, because we fit together so well. Honestly, when I look down and see her big eyes gazing and her little face smiling up at me, it’s just about the best thing in the world!
When do you find your Connecta most useful?
It’s great for doing housework because it lets me have my hands free to get on, while keeping baby close and happy. But it’s most useful when the tiny person decides that even though she’s tired, she won’t nap! I pop her in the Connecta and it usually only takes 10 minutes at the longest for her to drift off.
Share a photo of a favourite Connecta moment – tell us the story!
It’s so hard to choose a favourite moment! This is a great one though. It illustrates a lot of what’s great about having a Connecta.
We visited the arboretum I used to go to a lot as a child. They’ve just built a new treetop walkway, and because we took the Connecta, we were all able to access (and enjoy) all of it, including the Crow’s Nest in this picture, halfway up a tree! Tuppence got a great view of all the trees and was safely strapped to me the whole time. It was a great day and we made some lovely memories. That’s what this carrier does for us – it makes it so easy to have wonderful adventures with our little person.
