A guest post from Meg Huckstep from West Norfolk Slings
As a mum to three children three and a half years apart baby wearing has been utterly invaluable to me.
I had one size 6 wrap ahead of my first baby, and taught myself how to use it. It certainly came into its own when baby number 2 arrived. However, it wasn’t until I tried a Connecta that my love affair with baby wearing really took off.
I am a crafter and quilter too, and the various prints and textile options are a big part of it for me. But that aside, I just love how easy and comfortable it makes baby wearing. I love that it doesn’t matter what I am wearing because I throw the Connecta on over the top and it makes my outfit. It is the centre of attention, not my once clean t-shirt now marked by little fingers…
I would firmly admit I am now a wrapper at heart, and yet the caveat to that is, and will always remain, my Connectas!
Mine have been invaluable for ease of use, the times when there is just too much going on for me to have the will to wrap (and there and plenty of those days with three little ones!), or for quick trips here and there where to carry the baby (wriggling) in arms whilst herding two toddlers, a handbag laden with their stuff, keys etc would be an impossibility.
My husband only ever baby wears in a Connecta, both baby and toddler. He has tried others (probably a little unwillingly if we are honest!) But the one he has stuck with and asks for to carry our girls is the Connecta!
My other major love for them, when you look past the textiles and colours, keeping little and big babies close, and getting my husband to willingly babywear, is their ability to enable by stealth…
Several friends and mums I pass on the preschool run would never have considered wearing their babies in wraps, for them their prams were their go to and that was that… but the Connecta turned their heads, and made that first step into baby wearing less daunting. For all of them it is now as much a part of their daily routine as anything else and it is a tribute to all the great things that a Connecta offers that it happened.
