If anyone had told me when I began this babywearing adventure that I would still be carrying my son when he was a seventeen-kilo three-and-a-half year old, I suspect I would have told them they were mad.
But here we are, almost three years down the line from when I first discovered the Connecta, and it is still an essential piece of kit.
Our little family loves to go exploring, from country lanes to city streets. Of course nowadays Arthur walks beside us (or runs ahead) most of the time, but there are still moments where he gets tired, or needs to be contained, and being able to whip the sling out of the bag is absolutely invaluable.
Daddy still wears Arthur on his front most of the time, enjoying the cosy cuddles with his not-so-little-baby nuzzled into his chest.
For me Arthur’s getting a bit too tall for front carries, but I love being able to put him on my back – and he loves the vantage point on the world it gives him.
The thought of having to take a pram with us for those ‘just in case’ moments is hard to get my head around, so I suppose if we didn’t have our Connecta we would just have to cut short our adventures when Arthur got tired.
Either that or just carry him without it, but nowadays I last about five minutes without the extra support…
